Looking back….

Its February already? I guess we should start by looking back on the last two months. We went into the studio on December 4/5 to record a new track FORCES and re-work another track THESE WALLS ARE THIN from its original form. Until recently, the last time we played Forces was when Nathan famously announced that we had "...recently just become unsigned again!", pretty much initiating the "What the fuck do we do now?" phase of The Boxer Rebellion's existence. Its a fitting thing that it was the last track recorded for Union. And so we finished recording on December 5. Two days off and we were re-mixing (not electronically..but for the second time) the record with Chris Sheldon. About half-way through mixing we decided that Spitting Fire should go on the record..... (don't ask any questions please). The record was mixed in 6 days and on the Sunday I did not rest... We finished the artwork and digital booklet with Daniel Morgan. The next day we mastered the record with Kevin Metcalfe and it was after that I got rather drunk. 3 years of song writing, sporadic gigs, wasted opportunities and time and we had a finished record.

And so new years comes along and our record is out and Evacuate is worldwide Single of The Week on Jan 13. I cannot really fathom what came next - 10,000 copies in a week and all the rest... People listened, people liked and people bought. And that is what its all about really. 2009..................
